THERE ARE ABUNDANT REASONS TO THANK GOD, RECTOR TELLS STAFF AT LAST SOLEMN ASSEMBLY OF 2022
The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Engr. Dr. M.C. Arimanwa FNSE, JP, has charged members of staff to acknowledge the blessings of God in their lives. The Rector stated this while preaching a powerful sermon at the last Solemn Assembly of the institution in 2022 held at the 1000-capacity auditorium.
The Polytechnic Chief who is also a Reverend Canon of the Anglican Communion led the congregation to see abundant reasons for thanking God.According to the Reverend Rector, “God has done so many things for us in this year. As believers, we need recognize and celebrate the grace of God. Indeed, there are abundant reasons to thank the Lord. The provisions we have are not because we worked harder than others; they came to us by the grace of the Almighty. If we fail to thank God, we are then inferring that our achievements come from our own strength.”
Citing the Scripture as written in 1 Chron. 29, the Man of God described David as a man who relished praising God. He therefore enjoined staff to always find reasons to be grateful to God like King David, who never allowed any moment of praise to elude him. As a way of giving thanks to God, the Rector while being divinely inspired directed that a thanksgiving offering be collected to be used in visiting the needy and less-privileged in orphanages.
The Solemn Assembly was spiced up by phenomenal testimonies from some members of staff as well as special renditions and a playlet. The sermon moved the Polytechnic community present to sing and dance freely to the Almighty God for His mercies throughout the year.
There were two special speech moments, one of which was the address of the Bursar of the Polytechnic, Mr. V.N. Anyanwuocha, who revealed that the institution had since the twilight of 2015 been passing through a tight fiscal condition occasioned by the government policy of Treasury Single Account as well as an attenuating student enrollment, with its attendant effects on the fiscal stability of the school.
He therefore encouraged staff members to show some level of understanding with the institution while assisting in their little ways in boosting the Internally Generated Revenue of the institution.
The highest point of the event was the Rector’s charge during which he reeled out earth-shaking achievements of his administration in four years, which cut across all spheres of life of the Polytechnic.
Among others, the award-wining Rector made an abridged reference to landmark strides he had made in the areas of staff welfare and enrollment, human capacity development, environmental aesthetics, physical infrastructure, agriculture, linkages and innovations, research and development, curriculum development, transportation, health and industry.
