One person has been confirmed dead with many others injured during the Yoruba Nation agitators rally in the Ojota area of Lagos, this morning. Though details of how the planned rally to press for self -determination assumed a violent twist could not be immediately ascertained. But eye witnesses told Vanguard Newspaper that there were sporadic gunshots.
An unconfirmed report had it that three persons, including a policeman were gunned down in the cross fire.
But the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Hudenyin said only one person lost his life. He stated that policemen were in the area to ensure calm.
In another development, the Festac Town Police formation, said its personnel have commenced further investigations of the seven men, recently arrested on suspicion of being involved in gay activities.
According to the investigating officer, law enforcement authorities intervened after the crowd caught those involved and were trying to mob them. As most people caught in such act ends up receiving jungle justice.
Sources close to the Police division gave the names of the suspects as: Titus S. Obierika, Ejike V. Eke, Adele T. Eriayomide, Nnaemeka J. Agbanusi, Madubuike H. Oluchukwu, Chukwujindi K. Famous, and Oloroso G. Emose.
The police authorities say the arrested suspects have been giving useful information which has led to the apprehension of others involved in taking the law into their hands as there is fear that one of the victims will not survive.
All suspects, including those involved in such immoral acts, will have their day in court once investigations are concluded.
