His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma has urged Catholic Bishops in Nigeria to intensify their prayers for peace and progress in the country and particularly for a peaceful election in Imo State on November 11.
Speaking at the 5th National Mission Congress of Nigeria, he emphasized the importance of clergy holding politicians accountable and encouraged them to use their spiritual influence to ensure a fair and peaceful election.
In his earlier remark, the Catholic Archbishop of Owerri, Most Rev. Dr. Lucius Ugorji, spoke of the challenges faced by Nigerian Christians, including insecurity, economic concerns, and governance issues. He called on Christians to act as missionaries in addressing these issues and bringing about peace.
The Episcopal Chairman, Mission and Dialogue, Most Rev. Stephen Dami Mamza, highlighted the relevance of the Congress’s theme, “Fear not for I am with you,” in the face of threats to life and unfavourable political decisions. He encouraged unity, trust, faith, and resilience to overcome fear.
At the Church Service, the Governor was joined by the Deputy Governor, Professor Placid Njoku and other government officials, along with numerous bishops from different Catholic Dioceses in Nigeria.
