Lawmaker, Rep. Ugonna Ozurigbo , Takes Bold Step to Tackle Erosion Crisis in Ibeoma Ekwe, Isu LGA
In a significant move addressing a long-standing environmental concern, the member representing Nkwerre/Isu/Nwangele/Njaba federal constituency, Rt. Hon. Ugonna Ozurigbo, a distinguished lawmaker, has taken the lead by championing a motion to control erosion in the community of Ibeoma Ekwe, located in Isu Local Government Area.
The erosion issue, which has plagued the community for an extended period, reached a critical point prompting the reliable lawmaker to table a motion at plenary on Wednesday, 22 November, 2023.
The motion specifically calls for the urgent intervention of the Ecological Fund office under the office of the Secretary to the Federal Government, and Ministry of Budget, Finance and National Planning, to initiate measures that will mitigate the impact of erosion and protect the residents of Ibeoma Ekwe.
During the parliamentary session, OZB highlighted the severity of the erosion menace, emphasizing the threat it poses to the lives and properties of the people in the affected area.
He continued by underscoring the need for swift and comprehensive action, urging collaboration between different ministries and agencies to ensure a holistic approach to tackling the environmental challenge.
