International Women’s Day
I, Hon Deacon Chike Okafor, Ph.D, member representing the good people of Ehime Mbano, Ihitte Uboma and Obowo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, heartily felicitate with Imo women, on this historic occasion of the 2024 International Women’s Day.
I must emphasize that the contributions of women in promoting peace, unity and progress for a greater society deserve commendation. That is why celebrating, and recognizing their modest efforts in a time like this, is very vital.
Also, this commemoration targets at recognizing and appreciating women for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political for the overall growth of the society.
I must state that in my capacity as a federal lawmaker, I will ensure that more legislations that would further protect the rights of women in Nigeria are enacted in line with the theme of this year’s commemoration, which says: “Invest in women, Accelerate progress.”
