In a significant development, the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodimma, CON, joined the management of the African Export-Import (Afreximbank) during the official flag-off and groundbreaking ceremony of the African Quality Assurance Center (AQAC) at Umuowa, Ngor Okpala LGA of Imo State.
During the ceremony, the Governor expressed gratitude to the board of directors of Afreximbank for selecting Imo State as the second state in Nigeria to host a Quality Assurance Center. He emphasized that this establishment will enhance trade and investment in Imo State, the South East region, and the entire nation. Governor Uzodimma also assured the Bank of the Imo State government’s full collaboration and support.
The delegation was led by the Chairman of the board of directors of Afreximbank, Prof. Benedict Okey Oramah, represented by Mrs. Kanayo Awani, Executive Vice Chairman of Intra-African Trade and Export Development, and Mrs. Olurati Dohati, Director of Export Development of Afreximbank.
The event was attended by top government functionaries, stakeholders, and traditional rulers, including the Deputy Governor, Lady Chinyere Ekomaru, Ph.D., Secretary to the State Government, Chief Cosmas Iwu, Sen. Patrick Ndubueze, Chief Emma Enukwu, Sir McDonald Ebere, Ph.D., HRH Eze Dr. E. C. Okeke, HRH Eze Engr. Fredrick Nwachukwu, among others.
