The Deputy Governor of Imo state, Lady Chinyere Ihuoma Ekomaru, PhD, today, Friday, assured the women wing of Ekomaru Vanguards of Hope that they are major stakeholders in the government of Imo state. She said this when the group paid her a courtesy visit in her office at the government house.
The Deputy Governor, who profusely thanked the group for their massive support and solidarity during the electioneering campaigns and election, asserted that “as long as you are an Imo citizen and you are committed to the development and progress of Imo state, you are a major stakeholder in the government of Imo state. So, consider yourselves as major stakeholders in the government of Imo state”.
“I thank you on behalf of the Governor, Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodima, for your unwavering support and steadfastness. Please, continue to support the government of Imo state and always remember our Governor in your prayers for not only giving Imo women a voice by choosing me as his running mate and now Deputy Governor but also, for his vision and doggedness in developing Imo state and at the same time, according every Imo citizen an equal opportunity to contribute to the betterment of the state.
In the same vein, the Imo number two citizen also asked the women group to always remember in their prayers, the Imo First Lady, Bar (Mrs) Chioma Uzodimma, who perfectly fits in and beyond, the group’s description of herself – the Deputy Governor.
In a release signed by Dr. Uzopuo Charles Nnamdi, Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Her Excellency promised to involve the members of the group in her programmes and in the activities of the state government where and when necessary just as she has given their State Cordinator, Dr. Uzopuo Charles, through the Governor, a chance to serve the state, as the Chief Press Secretary, office of the Deputy Governor.
Hon. (Mrs) Ijeoma Azuike, the leader of the group, earlier in her address, thanked the Deputy Governor for granting them the opportunity to pay her a visit despite her very tight schedule. She, on behalf of the group gave a quadruple congratulations to the Deputy Governor on her Election victory with the Governor, Successful inauguration, Election Petition Tribunal Triumph and graduation as a Doctorate degree holder from the Nigeria’s foremost ivory tower, the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. She also thanked the Deputy Governor for remembering their group in the recent government appointments as she graciously nominated their able State Coordinator, Dr. Uzopuo Charles for an appointment as her Chief Press Secretary and prayed they are given some more.
The group while demanding that they are carried along in the activities of the government; for official integration and registration under the ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, also, eulogized the Deputy Governor as ”Ada eji eje mba, the great Deborah of our time, the great Amazon, an educationist and lecturer, the Esther of Imo, the voice of the less Privileged, the voice of Imo women and the workaholic and simple Deputy Governor”
The group’s leader, Hon (Mrs) Azuike however, concluded by pledging to continue to support the Shared Prosperity Government of Imo state, led by Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodimma and assisted by their own and fellow woman, Lady Chinyere Ihuoma Ekomaru, PhD, then presented the Deputy Governor, a beautiful picture portrait of her and her husband, Chief (Bar) Chukwuma Ekomaru, SAN.
