The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has opened discussions with former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwnkawaso and the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP), in the 2023 elections, Mr Peter Obi, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party, Ibrahim Abdullahi, said this in an interview with Channels Television, on Monday.
Abdullahi, like most party members, attributed the PDP’s 2023 electoral loss to the defection of Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to other parties a few months before the presidential polls among other factors.
He, however, expressed confidence that the party’s overtures to these political heavyweights who were once members of the PDP family will bear the desired fruit before 2027.
Abdullahi said, “We have lost Kwankwaso, we have lost Peter Obi — all of these people — imagine if they are in the party, we will have gone to win the elections,” he said.
“This APC said they defeated us with one million plus (votes), just one of these names that I mentioned would have covered that gap for us and we would have been in power today and certainly Nigerians would not have been confronted with this despair and despondency in the land.”
According to him, discussions are ongoing to bring Peter Obi, Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) and Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso his counterpart in the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the 2023 general elections back to PDP before the 2027 elections.
