  1. Meet the new Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri, Dr. Basilia Igbokwe.

DR (MRS) BASILIA IGBOKWE has been announced as the ninth(9th) substantive Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, marking a significant achievement in her esteemed academic career.

Her appointment, confirmed by the Minister of State for the Federal Ministry of Education, underscores her notable contributions and expertise in the field of education.

Dr. Igbokwe brings a robust academic foundation to her new role.

She graduated from the prestigious University of Nigeria Nsukka in 1991(BA Hons- English.
Holds MA (English), University of Uyo and she earned PhD in English from the University of Uyo in 2007.

Her qualifications also include an HND, ND, and various diplomas in Public Administration and Computer Applications from different institutions.

This diverse educational background is supported by her extensive experience in both teaching and administration.

Dr. Igbokwe has been a key member of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede School of General Studies (SGS) since 2008.

Throughout her lecturing career, she has held various pivotal positions, including Chief Lecturer, Deputy Director of Monitoring & Evaluation, and Head of Departments (Mass Communications and Humanities).

Additionally, she has served as Director of Welfare and Social Responsibility and contributed to numerous institutional committees, demonstrating her leadership and dedication.

In her new role as the 2nd Female Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, Imo State, Dr. Igbokwe is expected to drive academic excellence, foster innovation, and oversee the continued growth of Federal Polytechnic, Nekede.

Her appointment heralds a new chapter of advancement for the institution, reflecting her commitment to enhancing educational standards and institutional development.
