Dean Students affairs, Dr. Saint Christopher charged union leaders to be disciplined
The Federal Polytechnic Nekede,Owerri Monday the 21st October, inaugurated new leadership of her Students Union Government (SUG) in grand style.
The inauguration which took place at the institution’s School of Business Management Technology (SBMT)500 auditorium had the institution Management under the Rector, Dr. Basilia Nkem Igbokwe representatives like the Dean of Students Affairs, Dr. Paul Saint Christopher, Dr. Ugochukwu Stanislaus Okere who is the Executive Assistant to the Rector on Technical Matters and SA Security.
Other representatives who witnessed the inauguration were Engr. Duke Ugwuegbu (HOD Welding and Fabrication and Deputy Coordinator Host Community Relations), Mr. kizito Duru(Deputy Director Tetfund Centre of Excellence) and the Deputy Registrar Division of Student Affairs, Mr. Basil Njoku
while the oath of office was administered by Barr. kyrian Ofurum, a solicitor of the Supreme Court.
Addressing the students, Dr. Paul Saint Christopher congratulated the newly inaugurated student’s leaders. Described them as potential global leaders that divine providence has brought into leadership training through the SUG positions while charging them to utilize the opportunities through effective representation of students mandate.
The Dean revealed that Dr. Basilia Igbokwe led Federal Polytechnic Nekede management have prioritized students well-being and mapped out measures to eradicate indiscipline on campus. He reiterated that the rector is a mother that cherishes well behaved students and well not fall to unleash disciplinary measures on any student or student leader that poise to become a threat to the institution reputation.
Dr. Paul Saint Christopher charged the union leaders to ensure all inclusiveness in the Polytechnic community, report perceived students plight to the Division for quick intervention and maintain high regards to the institution authority. While he assured them of management support.
Earlier, Speaking on behalf the newly inaugurated union leaders, the SUG President Comrade Ekene Valentine said “I stand before you today with great humility and a profound sense of responsibility as we embark on a new era in this great citadel of Learning. I use this medium to congratulate Dr. Mrs Basilia .N. Igbokwe on your appointment as the 9th Substantive Rector FPNO and Dr. Paul Saint Christopher on your appointment as the Dean
Students Affairs.I pray that God will strengthen you both and give you both the wisdom and spirit
to take FPNO to a greater height for the betterment of the Nigerian students.”
“As I assumed this esteem position, I pledge my unwavering resolve to work collaboratively with each and everyone of you. I implore you to join me in transcending the boundaries of rivalry and uniting for the effective representation and betterment
of Nigerian students.” He assured.
