Hon. Chike Okafor Offers New Accommodation to Imo Girl Abused By Step Mom
In a very compassionate move, Hon. Chike Okafor, a member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, has arranged secure housing for 12-year-old Amarachi Emmanuel. Amarachi, who is currently receiving treatment at Imo State General Hospital in Umuguma, Owerri, was reportedly assaulted by her stepmother, Mrs. Blessing Emmanuel, for eating without permission.
Hon. Okafor had pledged to provide Amarachi and her siblings with a safe living space after visiting her in the hospital. This response followed a call for help from activist journalist and human rights advocate, Chidiebube Okeoma, who urged support for a new residence for Amarachi’s family. During his visit to the family’s current shelter in Nekede, Okeoma had highlighted the urgency of relocating the children to a more stable and dignified environment.
Keeping his promise, Deacon Chike Okafor swiftly arranged for a new flat for the family, fulfilling the need for a decent, safe home. Announcing the achievement, Okeoma confirmed, “I can confirm to you that Hon. Chike Okafor has secured a decent accommodation for Amarachi and her siblings. I now have access to the house. It is a flat. To God be the glory.”
Okeoma further appealed to the public for assistance in furnishing the apartment, noting that the family currently lacks essential items like cooking utensils, beds, and other household supplies. He encouraged Nigerians to contribute either new or gently used household items, adding, “Please assist us so that the girl can go home. She is at the hospital as we speak. Any contributions, even household equipment that you are no longer using, would be greatly appreciated.”
