ICPC begins tracking constituency, executive projects worth ₦41bn
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has commenced the tracking of 106 constituency and executive projects valued at ₦41 billion across Kano State.
The ICPC Kano State Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner, Barr. Ibrahim Garba, disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen. He revealed that out of the total projects, 99 were constituency projects, while the remaining seven were executive projects distributed across the 44 local government areas of the state.
Garba stated that the exercise aims to ensure the faithful execution of the projects according to specifications, thereby benefiting citizens, curbing wastage, and preventing corruption.
He urged community members to report any observed irregularities in project execution to the Commission and to take ownership of project sites within their areas.
“The Commission has prioritized sectors that have a direct impact on citizens’ lives, including education, health, agriculture, water, rural roads, power, and youth empowerment,” Garba said.
He further emphasized that the Commission would collaborate with critical stakeholders to achieve the objectives of the tracking initiative. These stakeholders include the media, the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS), the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), and civil society organizations.
The tracking exercise underscores the ICPC’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and the effective utilization of government resources.
