BREAKING: Nigeria’s Largest Gas Plant begins Production

Nigeria’s Largest Gas Plant, ANOH, Now begins Production at 850 Million Standard Cubic Feet of Gas Daily in Assah, Imo State

A new era of energy production has dawned in Nigeria as the ANOH Gas Processing Plant, located in Assah, Imo State, officially emerges as the largest gas facility in the country. The state-of-the-art plant is now producing an impressive 850 million standard cubic feet (MMSCF) of gas per day, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria’s quest for energy security and industrial growth.

Situated in the oil-rich Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area, the ANOH Gas Plant is a joint venture between the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) and Seplat Energy Plc. The project, known as the Assa North-Ohaji South (ANOH) Gas Development Project, is a cornerstone of the Federal Government’s “Decade of Gas” initiative, which aims to harness Nigeria’s vast natural gas reserves to drive economic development, reduce gas flaring, and boost cleaner energy use across the country.

Commissioned with great expectations, the plant’s daily output of 850 MMSCF is enough to power major industrial hubs, support domestic gas consumption, and strengthen electricity generation. This makes ANOH not only the biggest in Nigeria but also one of the most ambitious gas infrastructure projects in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Governor Uzodimma expressed his delight at the completion of the Seplat-operated ANOH gas facility, one of two plants under the project. With the facility now fully operational, the Governor noted that Imo State is poised for significant economic benefits including job creation, increased investment opportunities, and enhanced energy infrastructure.

The governor emphasized the plant’s critical role in powering the Orashi Special Energy Free Trade Zone (OSEFTZ) and fostering industrial development in the once-restive Ohaji/Egbema environ.

With the commissioning of the ANOH Gas Plant, Nigeria takes a bold step toward energy self-reliance, industrialization, and environmental sustainability. The country now boasts of a gas processing capacity that puts it firmly on the map as a key player in the global energy space.

As the plant ramps up production, all eyes will be on Assah in Imo State — the new heart of Nigeria’s gas revolution.
