On Thursday, 28th August 2025, history was made as Hon. Rachel Kufre Nse was inaugurated as a Member of the Governing Board of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), representing the South-South geopolitical zone.

The inauguration, which took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja, was presided over by the Honourable Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, who represented the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Hon. Nse comes into this new national role with an impressive record of public service. She had previously served as a Board Member of the Alvan Ikoku Federal Polytechnic, Owerri, where she played a key role in strengthening institutional governance, policy formulation, and developmental initiatives. This background has provided her with invaluable experience in leadership and administration qualities that will be critical in her new assignment at the NCDC.

In her address after the ceremony, Hon. Nse first expressed her profound gratitude to God Almighty, the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for finding her worthy of this appointment. She further extended appreciation to the Senate President, His Excellency Godswill Akpabio GCON, her political leader and mentor, for his guidance and support. She also acknowledged the encouragement of her constituents, colleagues, and well-wishers who have stood by her journey.

She assured that she would serve with integrity, fairness, and diligence, working to ensure that the South-South region receives adequate attention under the mandate of the NCDC, while also contributing to the broader vision of sustainable growth and inclusive development across Nigeria.

The ceremony was graced by dignitaries, stakeholders, and government officials, who described her appointment as a strategic choice, noting her experience, loyalty, and commitment to service.

With this inauguration, Hon. Rachel Kufre Nse joins other distinguished board members to steer the Commission’s work in addressing developmental challenges and creating opportunities for all regions of the country.
