Sen Kalu Demands Action on Underperforming Ministers, Commends Tinubu on New Service Chiefs

Amidst persistent security concerns, former Abia State Governor and Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu, has commended President Bola Tinubu for appointing new Service Chiefs.

Recall that on the 24th of October 2025, President Tinubu replaced the service chiefs, appointing Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede as Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Major-General W. Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff (COAS), and Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke as Chief of Air Staff (CAS).

The President also named Rear Admiral I. Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) while retaining Major-General E.A.P. Undiandeye as Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI).

Speaking as a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme, the Senator, who argued that if leadership must deliver, symbolic reforms must give way to real-world impact also urged the President to reshuffle his cabinet and replace under-performing ministers.

He maintained that he had privately reviewed many of the ministers and has privately advised the President that most of them should go.

The lawmaker noted that if Nigeria is serious about overcoming its security and developmental challenges, there must be no sentiment when it comes to change.
