Anglican SYNOD: When Faith Departs from Politics, Politics beomes predatory – Hon. Chike Okafor
on Saturday, 1st Novenber 2025, Hon Deacon Chike Okafor, PhD, Delivered the Keynote Address at the 11th SYNOD of the Anglican Diocese of Isi-Mbano, Osuama Archdeaconry, Isiala-Mbano, on the topic, Faith and Politics; An Amalgam.
The topic was drawn from the theme of the SYNOD, being “Faith the Door way to God’s Promises.” (Hebrew 11:8), as Hon Deacon Chike Okafor Delivers Keynote Address at the 11th SYNOD of the Anglican Diocese of Isi-Mbano.
As Keynote Speaker, Hon. Chike Okafor averred that Faith without politics is morally bankrupt while politics without moral conscience is destructive.
He urged the church to produce more leaders, in politics.
He asserted that the Church is ripe to float leadership schools where Christians will be groomed to play politics with conscience.
He insisted that having just a few Christian leaders, in politics, is not good enough, as one candle cannot illuminate a large Hall, but a hundred candles or more, would.
The SYNOD had the host Rt. Rev. Dr. Godson Udochukwu Ukanwa and his wife, Dr. Mrs Godiva Ukanwa, His Grace, Most Rev. Dr David Okechukwu Onuoha, Archbishop of Owerri Ecclesiastical Province and the Bishop of Anglican Diocese of Okigwe South, as well as Bishops, from all over the country.
Also in attendance were the Lord Chancellor and former Vice Chancellor of Imo State University, Owerri, Prof. Osy Ezechukwunyere Nwaebo, so many priests, Knights and ladies, as well the SYNOD Delegates, and parishoners of the host parish, St. Michael’s All Angels Church, Eziama, Isiala Mbano.
On the entourage of Hon. Chike Okafor were Hon. Ifeanyichukwu Onwueyiagba, former commmissoner for Youth Developmemt and Talent Hunt, Chief Ifeanyi Onwunali, Dr. Emma Ibekwe and Mr Ogemdi Ibeawuchi (Ogidi Mbano), among others.
