OICs: Gov. Hope Uzodimma’s Revenue Drive Gets a Boost At Ending Tax Evasion

The sustained drive by the Imo State Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma to raise the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the State, recently found a partner, in the person of the Obowo Imo State born member representing Okigwe South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chike Okafor, PhD.

Hon. Chike Okafor, in a bold move, through a well sponsored motion has roused the Green chambers of the National Assembly to support the move by the Governor to end Tax Evasion and abuse of due process by Oil and Gas Companies in Imo State.
Hon. Chike Okafor says this move will consolidate the effort of the Imo State Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, by ensuring that not only will the Oil and Gas companies pay tax on the State but also open and physical and verifiable offices in the State, to make them more accessible and responsive to Imo people.

The motion among other things seeks to ensure that Imo people get a fair chance in the recruitment process as well as award of contracts by the Oil and Gas companies, to capable and qualified local contractors, as this will ensure that income tax and Value Added Tax (VAT) from the companies are duly remitted to the State.
