The Managing Director of the Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC), Chief Austin Onyedebelu has presented the Commission’s end-of-year report, outlining major achievements, and ongoing projects, at the end of the year board members meeting.

At the meeting with the board Chairman, HRH Eze Professor Dele Amuzienwa Odigbo and members, the MD expressed appreciation to the Governor, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma for his sustained support and to the Board for its cooperation throughout the year. He noted that ISOPADEC’s progress in 2025 was driven by unity of purpose and renewed leadership.

He commended the Governor for the successful hosting of the Imo Economic Summit, where ISOPADEC initiated discussions with Afrexim Bank on establishing a cassava processing plant for the oil-producing zone. A bankable feasibility study valued at $4.5 million is already underway, with the project expected to generate jobs, enhance food security, and strengthen economic stability in the region.

Chief Onyedebelu also disclosed several ongoing state-government-driven infrastructure projects across oil-producing communities. These include the 29 new school buildings, a 20-bed ultra-modern hospital at Umuorji in Ohaji-Egbema, and the establishment of over 10 new Primary Healthcare Centres, all at advanced stage. He said these developments reflect the government’s commitment to improving education, healthcare, and community welfare.

Board members present at the meeting included Nkiru Ihesie, Dr. Nina Nwulu, Engr. Obidike, Chief Kelechi Onuoha, Chief Valentine Okere, Hon. Cassidy, and Hon. Mrs. Ify Obi.

In view of more expectations, the MD expressed optimism that with continued support from the government, Board, and staff, ISOPADEC will achieve even greater milestones in the coming year.
