In a season marked by economic challenges across Nigeria, the Kalu family has once again demonstrated extraordinary compassion through a massive Christmas outreach that touched thousands of lives in Abia State.

Rev. Samson Okoro Elekwa, a respected cleric of the Baptist Church, has publicly commended Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and his brothers—Chief Nnanna Kalu and Mascot Uzor Kalu—for their remarkable generosity. According to Rev. Elekwa, the family distributed cash gifts of N25,000 to over 9,500 families spanning all 17 local government areas of Abia State during the 2025 Christmas celebrations.

This initiative, described by the cleric as a “rare demonstration of genuine love,” provided timely relief amid widespread hardship. Rev. Elekwa emphasized that the gesture embodies the core Christian teaching of love preached by Christ Himself. He personally verified the distribution by contacting Hon. Sunday Ojisi (Abacha), Chairman of the Abia State chapter of the OUK Movement, who confirmed the widespread outreach.

Such acts of kindness are not isolated but part of a longstanding tradition of philanthropy by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and his brothers , Hon. Nnanna and Chief Mascot Kalu, they have consistently supported education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and community development in Abia North and beyond.

In education, Senator Kalu has facilitated scholarships for hundreds of students, including opportunities to study medicine abroad, constructed and renovated over 120 classroom blocks, and donated essential learning materials to schools across underserved areas.

Healthcare interventions have included medical outreaches, donations of hospital equipment, and direct assistance to patients in need. Empowerment programs targeting youths and women have provided skills training, startup funding for small businesses, and infrastructure projects like road rehabilitation and borehole water schemes.

Rev. Elekwa urged other affluent Nigerians to follow the Kalu family’s example, noting that true leadership is measured by selfless service. He prayed for continued divine strength for the family, highlighting how their actions foster unity, peace, and shared prosperity in society.

The Kalu family’s philanthropy stands as an inspiring model, reminding us that compassion and generosity can profoundly impact communities, especially in times of need. Their dedication to uplifting the less privileged continues to earn widespread admiration and gratitude from Abians.
