Gov. Diri, Minister Lokpobiri Flag Off E-Registration Drive As APC Leaders Unite In Bayelsa

The All Progressives Congress (APC) recorded a major milestone in Bayelsa State as Governor Douye Diri and the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, jointly led the flag-off of the party’s electronic membership registration exercise in Yenagoa. The event signaled renewed collaboration among party leaders and a strategic effort to strengthen grassroots participation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Addressing party stakeholders, Governor Diri underscored the importance of unity and mass registration as the foundation for political stability and electoral success. He reminded members that the APC symbol embodies collective strength and shared purpose. “You can easily break a single broomstick, but when all the sticks come together, they are unbreakable,” he said. He urged long-standing members and new entrants alike to formally register, emphasizing the need to pair APC membership cards with valid INEC voter cards to safeguard party integrity and prevent electoral manipulation.

In his remarks, Senator Lokpobiri described the e-registration initiative as a defining step toward building a stronger, more coordinated APC in Bayelsa State. According to him, the exercise provides the party with accurate data, enhances organisation, and positions it for greater competitiveness. “This exercise enables APC to accurately determine its support base in Bayelsa and better organise its structure ahead of future elections,” he stated.
Lokpobiri applauded the reconciliatory atmosphere fostered across party ranks, noting that leaders who had not worked together for years were now aligning for a shared objective. He commended Governor Diri’s efforts in encouraging dialogue and cooperation, saying, “Through dialogue and personal intervention, the Governor persuaded party leaders to make compromises and embrace a new spirit of cooperation.”
Reaffirming commitment to electoral victory, the Minister reiterated the common mission ahead. He assured supporters that the party is united and focused on success at all levels, stressing that active participation in the e-registration exercise is essential to “deliver all elective offices and secure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.”
The flag-off concluded with both leaders urging party members to mobilize their constituencies, deepen participation, and sustain peace and collaboration. The exercise, they noted, will reinforce APC’s grassroots presence and consolidate its position as a dominant political force in Bayelsa State.
