Friday, 17th July, 2015 may have come and gone, but the fond memories of the First Graduation/Second step up ceremony of Mountain Crest School will live on, till eternity, in the living record of the memory of each and everyone that gathered at Art Nouveau, event centre, Owerri, to grace the Occasion.
From the on-set, it was obvious that the proprietress of the school, Deaconess Akudo Chike Okafor, wife of the member Representatiing Okigwe South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor had a whole lot packaged to keep the guests enthralled till late in the evening.
The children did not let her down, by any means, but rather surpassed the expectations of the parents that were drawn from all walks of life. The finese and masterful touch with which these kids were being trained was easily drawn attention to. From the mock news, to the drama cum teaching on health, to the discussion sessions down to the French drama all had a message or two to pass across to the audience.
There was beautiful coral rendition by the kids, musical instrumentation and even an excellent performance of the Atilogwu dance. The kids had it all coming. People could barely recognise that the day was far spent, because the time spent was worth it.
There keynote address by Umuezeala-Nsu born academic and Dean of Post Graduate School, Imo state University, Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba and another lecture by Prof, B.E.B Nwoke, former Vice Chancellor of Imo State University. Both lecturers took time to educate parents on the danger of leaving the upbringing of their children at the mercy of House helps, while in the pursuit of wealth. Fathers were specifically the target of the lectures, to that effect. Prof. B.E.B Nwoke’s pragmatic PowerPoint presentations were very insightful.
There was also presentation of gifts to the staff and students of the school, as well as cutting of the graduation cake. As well as powerful musical performance from Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor.
The proprietress and her husband, took turns to appreciate the guests who had gathered to grace the Occasion, even in their tight schedule. According to the proprietress, Deaconess Akudo Chike Okafor, Mountain Crest is not just a School but a vision given to them to lend a hand in the grooming of leaders who will take over reigns of power in every sector of Nigeria and even the globe. She stated that she was yet to realise her dream for Mountain Crest School, and that dream gives her sleepless nights.
Among other memorable events of the day was a powerful stage performance by the Legend Ras Kimono, the “Aruba style” crooner, among other artists.
Present at the event were the chairman of the occasion and Secretary to the Government of Imo State, Sir Jude Ejiogu, Hon. Engr. Obinna Onwubuariri, Hon. Austin Chukwukere, and Hon. Darlington Nwokeocha, Members representing Okigwe North, Ideato North and South and Isiala Ngwa North and south Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, respectively. Prince Dr. Henry Uzor Okafor, M.D, Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC), Hon. Kennedy Ibeh, Hon. LUGARD Osuji and Hon. Dr. Mrs Uche Ejiogu, Members representing Obowo, Owerri Municipal and Ihitte-Uboma in Imo State House of Assembly.
The event also had in attendance, Hon. Ik Ogbonna, S.A. to Imo State Governor on ICT, Hon. Patience Mbakwe, Former Imo state commissioner for Industry and non-formal sector, Prince Ik Okeke, M.D/CEO, Zion Motors, Pastor Chris-lance Osondu, Bishop Tasie, Joe Praise, a host of others.
The event did not wind up till some special citizens otherwise called disables were blessed with wheelchairs and financial empowerment, courtesy of the parents of the Mountain Crest School. Hon. Austin Chukwukere also supported handsomely.
Upbringing of children just got a higher pedestal in Imo State and it’s environs, with the entrance of Mountain Crest Schools!
