Okigwe South Reps: Court Strikes Out Suit by Jonas Okeke Seeking Review of Judgement for Chike Okafor

The court of appeal seating in Abuja, on 8th December 2023, dismissed the application by Jonas Okeke, seeking to upturn the verdict of the Appeal Court.

Jonas Okeke had approached the Appellate Court, in case number CA/OW/88/89/86/23, seeking a review of the judgement of the same court of Appeal which sat in Lagos, on November 4th 2023, that unanimously upheld the ruling of the election petition tribunal sitting in Nasarawa, on 9th September 2023, that previously sacked Jonas Okeke and rightfully declared Hon. Chike Okafor, PhD, as the rightful winner of the February 2023 Election to represent Ehime Mbano, Ihitte Uboma, Obowo in the House of Representatives.

In an unanimous decision, the 3 man panel of justices; Justice h S Tsamani, Justice otisi, and Justice jamilu tukur, held that the application is frivolous, childish, infantile and an abuse of court processes, and further slammed a N=5M fine on Jonas Okeke, which should be paid to Hon Chike Okafor, through the court within 21 days.

This judgement finally puts to rest the attempt by the candidate of the PDP, in 2023 General election, for Okigwe South Reps seat to foist himself on the people of Ehime Mbano, Ihitte-Uboma and Obowo Federal Constituency, as their representative, as against the outcome of the election.
