Bayelsa Thrown Into Darkness As Two Transmission Lines Collapse in Owerri
The Managing Director of Bayelsa State ELECTRICITY Company leader , Engineer Olice Kemenanabo, has urged the people of the state to remain calm, as the state has been plunged into darkness following the collapse of two 132kV transmission towers transmitting electricity to the state from Owerri through Ahoada.
Engr Kemenanbo appealed to the people of the state to exercise patience while the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN is making spirited efforts to rectify the situation.
The MD noted that the State governor, Senator Douye Diri, had already swung into action to getting the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN to restore light in the state by quickly fixing the Towers that collapsed as a result of vandalism few days ago .
According to him, TCN officials are handling the situation, “so all we need to do is to remain calm and be vigilant while the rehabilitation works last”.
Engr Olice Kemenanabo further advised the general public to report any suspicious and unscrupulous activities to the security agencies, warning such suspicious elements to steer clear of the Tower facility not to worsen the situation.
The Bayelsa Electricity boss noted that the current power outage has brought to fore the need to again impress it upon the Transmission Company of Nigeria to establish a work centre in Bayelsa State, which is a call the state have been making since 2021 to enable ease of intervention and quick response anytime such a situation occurs .
Engr Kemenanabo also warned vandals to stay off electrical installations in the state, as drastic measures would be taken against any one caught within the ambits of the law.
