Project Commissioning Galore, As Federal Poly Nekede Rector Dr. Igbokwe Marks 100 Days in Office In Grand Style

The Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri community was agog on Thursday, January 16, 2024, as the Rector, Dr. Basilia Igbokwe, moved around to commission and recommission critical revenue-generating Projects across the institution ranging from Bottle and Table water Factory, Tissue making Factory, Block Industry, ICT Centre among others.
The Commissioning programme was among numerous events marking the 100 days in office commemoration of the 9th Substantive Rector, Dr. Igbokwe.
Commissioning the chain Projects across the institution, Dr. Igbokwe stressed that the projects manifest her 11-point agenda, and demonstrate her unrelenting resolve to deliver on all expectations, hence calling for more support and unity of purpose among the Polytechnic community to actualize greater feats.
The school projects when adequately utilized according to admirers will set the Polytechnic on self-reliance pedestal to run some programmes of the institution without borrowing.
The admirers also noted that the commissioned projects will give the school a practical edge over other institutions as the institution fabricated the block moulds used at the commissioned block industry.
Addressing newsmen, the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri, Dr. Basilia Igbokwe, said the Polytechnic being marked as one of the best tertiary institutions across the country, calls for diligent services hence her resolve to set a clear record of landmark achievements in her 100 days in office.
“…That is why in my 100 days in office, I ensured that all the moribund Internally Generated Revenue projects were resuscitated because I discovered that none of them were working and that was as a result of the one-year transition period: when there was no Substantive Rector”
“When I assumed duty, this place was like a forest and you will just pity the school… I promised to resuscitate all the IGR projects in the school and to the Glory of God, the moribund Water factory, Tissue factory, Block industry, the CBT Centre have all bounced back”
Fielding questions on challenges faced on assumption of duty as Rector, Dr. Basilia Igbokwe noted her major challenge to be funding hence appealed for TETFUND intervention.
Dr. Igbokwe equally stressed that her administration is in good working relationship with all the unions in the institution namely, ASUPNEK, NOTSUP among others while stating she has a supportive management team and Students’ Union Government officials who have contributed their quota to her administration.
Dr. Igbokwe however assured the Polytechnic community, management, staff and students of more holistic developmental works and all inclusive welfare packages.
The Polytechnic Boss at the epoch-making event reiterated her resolve to give the Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri a holistic face-lift against all odds having identified the grey areas.
