Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor Renews Annual Social contract with Okigwe South as he pays WAEC Registration Fees for the Indigent
The member representing Ehime-Mbano, Ihitte-Uboma and Obowo Federal Constituency, in the House of Representatives, Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor, PhD, has paid registration fees for the teeming indigent residents of Okigwe South Federal Constituency.

Deacon Okafor, in a statement made available, to newsmen, in Owerri, on Monday 17th February 2025 stated that the annual registration for candidates sitting for the Senior School Certificate Examination, is a programme very dear to his heart, to the extent that he started it, in Obowo, before he joined politics, and will never put a stop, to it, till the end of time.
It will be recalled that Hon. Okafor first embarked on the free WAEC registration programme in 2012, and has done it, consistently, for the past 13 years.
According to him, what he started, as a simple appreciation to God, in Okenalogho Secondary Technical School, has now blossomed to reach the entire Ehime-Mbano, Ihitte-Uboma and Obowo Federal Constituency, making it a social contract he has with the people.
The target beneficiaries of this programme are the Indigent, and his team makes effort to identify them, as much as possible.

There was a case of an indigent, in the 2015 free WAEC registration programme, who was in the bush fetching palm nuts, to raise funds for his WAEC registration fees, when the Chike Okafor WAEC registration team in Ehime-Mbano located him through the nomination by His Royal Highness, Eze Emmanuel Ibechi, Akagu of Umuakagu, in Ehime-Mbano Local Government Area, Imo State.
Usually, and for transparency, Hon. Okafor ensures that these nominations are made by leaders from the various communities in the Ehime-Mbano, Ihitte-Uboma and Obowo LGAs.
Last year, alone, about 500 students benefitted from this scheme, and thus far, over 6,000 candidates have been blessed through this programme in the last 13 years, since inception, in 2012.
He Started with Okenalogho Secondary Obowo before extending to the entire Federal Constituency from 2014 till date.
So far, this year, about 270 students have been captured to benefit from this programme, and the details will be made available, shortly.
Apart from WAEC registration, Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor, PhD, has, to his credit, innumerable classroom blocks constructed and furnished across the three LGAs, and some more of these will be commissioned soon.
