PORT HARCOURT: Bishop Camillus Etokudoh Retires, Bishop Patrick Eluke Appointed Apostolic Administrator

In a significant ecclesiastical development, the Apostolic Nuncio to Nigeria, Archbishop Michael Francis Crotty, Wednesday, 9 April, 2025, announced the appointment of Bishop Patrick Eluke as the Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Port Harcourt.

This is following the acceptance of the resignation letter of Bishop Camillus Archibong Etukudoh, who in August 2024 attained the retirement age of 75.

The Apostolic Nuncio made the announcement during Holy Mass at the Cathedral in Port Harcourt during his 3-day pastoral visit to the diocese.

By this appointment, Bishop Eluke, who has been the Auxiliary Bishop of Port Harcourt Diocese, takes over the responsibilities of administratively managing the diocese in the interim, pending the appointment of a substantive bishop for the diocese.

Bishop Etokudoh served as the bishop of Port Harcourt for 16 years, after 20 years episcopacy in Ikot Ekpene diocese.
