PROFESSOR UGOCHUKWU BOND STANLEY ANYAEHIE APPOINTED AS THE SUBSTANTIVE VICE-CHANCELLOR, UNIZIK

Professor Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie has been appointed as the substantive Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
According to the letter signed by the Pro-chancellor and Chairman, Barr. Monsuru, Olugbenga Kukoyi and addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Anyaehie on 16th November, 2025.
The appointment follows a successful interactive session with the joint Council/Senate Selection Board held on Saturday, 15th November, 2025 at Stratton Hotel, Abuja.
The appointment, announced by the Governing Council of the university, is for a single term of five years and with immediate effect.
Professor Anyaehie, a renowned professor of Physiology and Clinical Measurements, was born on 16th November 1971 in Nkwere, Imo State, Nigeria. Prof. Anyaehie rose through the ranks and became a professor in October 2013. He has served in various capacities, including Acting Provost, College of Medicine, Federal University of Technology, Owerri (December, 2023- November 2024), Provost and Visiting Professor (pro-bono), College of Medicine, Imo State University, Owerri (March 2021- February 2022), Deputy Provost, College of Medicine, University of Nigeria (August 2018- July 2022), Director, Directorate of Research and Publications, UNN College of Medicine (October 2013 to August 2018), Manager and later Area Coordinator, National Health Insurance Scheme (December, 2001- June 2003).
Professor Anyaehie has published over 93 academic papers in high impact journals and other reputable journals. He is has served in different leadership positions, including Member, University Governing Council, Imo State University, Owerri, 2021 and Paul University, Awka (3rd Governing Council 2020 and 4th Governing Council 2023). He is married with children.
Professor Anyaehie succeeds Professor (Dame) Carol Chinyelugo Arinze-Umobi, who has been serving as Acting Vice-Chancellor, effective Tuesday, 18th November, 2025.
