PRESS CONFERENCE BY THE STATE CHAIRMAN OF APC, IMO STATE, FOLLOWING THE SUCCESSFUL CONDUCT OF HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, SENATORIAL, AND STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY PRIMARY ELECTIONS.
Gentlemen of the Press,
My name is chief Austin Onyedebelu, state chairman APC Imo State.
On behalf of the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State, I wish to sincerely thank our party faithful for conducting themselves in a very civil and responsible manner throughout the House of Representatives, Senatorial, and State House of Assembly primary elections, held on May 16th,2026, May 18th,2026 and May 20th,2026 respectively.
The elections were conducted in a peaceful atmosphere, and the processes were generally adjudged to be free, fair, and credible by party members, observers, and even the aspirants who participated in the exercise.
I also commend some very patriotic aspirants who voluntarily stepped down from the contests in recognition and respect for the zoning arrangements existing in their various constituencies. Their actions demonstrated maturity,
party loyalty, and commitment to unity and equity within our great party.
All the elections were conducted through the direct primary
method, in line with the directive of the National Working Committee (NWC) of our party.
I wish to specially appreciate the leader of our great party in Imo State, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope
Uzodimma, Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, for his outstanding leadership, guidance, and commitment throughout the entire process.
I equally appreciate all the aspirants and their supporters for conducting themselves peacefully and avoiding every form of violence before, during, and after the primaries.
I heartily congratulate all those who emerged victorious in the various contests and are now set to fly the flag of our great party, subject to confirmation by the National Working Committee. And for those who did not emerge winners, I encourage you to stay in the party and join hands with the
candidates that emerged to ensure victory for APC in all the pools.
The outcome of these primaries has further strengthened and united our party. Today, the APC in Imo State is stronger, more cohesive, and fully prepared for the general elections scheduled for January 2027.
I have no doubt whatsoever that APC in Imo State will record a resounding victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, win the three senatorial seats, secure all 10 House of Representatives seats, and triumph across the 27 State
House of Assembly constituencies in imo state.
Together, we shall continue to move Imo State and Nigeria forward.
