Lokpobiri Spotlights Nigeria’s Energy Investment Opportunities At #IEF17
Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, Ph.D., Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to attracting strategic investments across the energy value chain, emphasizing that sustained investment remains fundamental to global energy security.
Speaking on the sidelines of the 17th International Energy Forum Ministerial, co-hosted by Nigeria alongside Italy’s Minister of the Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, the Minister highlighted Nigeria’s strategic position in the global energy market amid mounting geopolitical tensions and growing concerns over energy supply security.

“Energy security begins with sustained investment, irrespective of the form of energy. Securing reliable and affordable energy supplies requires investments across the entire value chain, supported by infrastructure, technology, and strategic international partnerships,” Lokpobiri stated.
A release by Nneamaka Okafor, Media and Communication aide to the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), noted that Nigeria’s abundant energy resources, expansive domestic market, and strategic geographical position provide significant opportunities for investors seeking competitive returns and sustainable partnerships.
The Minister further stressed that oil and gas remain critical to meeting current global energy demand, while investments in other energy sources offer additional opportunities to diversify the energy mix and strengthen long-term energy security.
At the dinner hosted during #IEF17, Lokpobiri leveraged the gathering to further promote Nigeria’s investment climate, engaging informally with delegates and representatives from different countries to showcase the country’s competitive energy sector and investment opportunities.
“The dinner provided another valuable opportunity to engage international stakeholders, showcase Nigeria’s investment potential, and encourage partnerships that will deliver mutual benefits. Nigeria is open for business and ready to work with serious investors,” he said.
He reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to creating an enabling investment environment through ongoing reforms, stronger international cooperation, and policies designed to unlock the country’s energy potential.
Lokpobiri maintained that Nigeria would continue to strengthen partnerships capable of stimulating economic growth, creating employment opportunities, and delivering sustainable prosperity for Nigerians while contributing meaningfully to global energy security.
