IMSU Alumni Imo Chapter Inaugurates Barr Nwelue, Francis Ndimkoha, Chairman & Organising Secretary

History was made on Sunday 17th November 2024, as the Imo Chapter of lmo State University Alumni Association (IMSUAA) inaugurated a new leadership with Barr. Okey Nwelue as Chairman.

The event took place at City Chef Restaurant, Owerri and was chaired by the Special Adviser to Imo State Governor of Culture and Creative Arts, and also the National Treasurer of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, Hon. Ezechi Chukwu.

Barr Okey Nwaelue had emerged the new Chairman of the Imo State University Alumni Association (IMSUAA), also know as the “Mother Chapter”, after three other contestants, Dr Majesty Duru , Arc Chukwunonso Nnaji and Hon Obinna Ekwebelem stepped down for him.

In a keenly contested election weekend at Concorde Hotel Owerri, the Imo State capital, the renowned legal luminary, Barr Okey Nwlue was elected as Chairman, Mrs Becky Asogwa won the position of Vice Chairman while, Dr Ikenna Onuoha was similarly elected as Secretary General respectively.

Others include, Ike Godwin (Treasurer), Amadi Kelechi (Financial Secretary), Ubochi Wilson (Deputy Fin. Sec), Barr. Mrs Onyeananam (Assistant Secretary) and Francis Ndimkoha as Organizing Secretary.

Mr Wilson Amaefule, Anukanti Vigilus, Prince Echefu and Dr Emele Augustine also emerged as Deputy Organizing Secretary, Welfare Officer, Publicuty Secretary and Provost respectively.

The Electoral Committee Chairman, Sir Cajetan Okoro (JEGA) was on hand to confirm those elected eligible for Inauguration and duly handed them over the chairman of the Inauguration Committee, Dr. Emeka Onyema who invited Barr. Uzo Adigwe to administer the oaths.

In his acceptance speech, the new Chairman, on behalf of the newly elected executive thanked members of the association for finding them worthy to serve, and promised to run an all inclusive administration that would recognize ideas of everyone.

He appealed to members to give the new executive all needed supports to be able to perform, and vowed not to entertain any excuses from anyone in the discharge of their duties.

In their separate speeches, Mr. Ik Ogbonna, the Secretary General who represented the Ag President, Princess Chyka Ukaga, and the Chairman of the Inauguration Committee, Dr. Emeka Onyema thanked all who attended and urged the new leadership to leave up to the mandate they now represent.

The event which was anchored by Francis Ndimkoha, the Organising Secretary, also witnessed the induction of a new member, Sir Ephraim Anunwa, the CEO of City Chef.
