Chris Anyanwu, Peter Obi, Gov Mbah, Others Honoured by Purgatorian Society of Nigeria
Former National President of the Imo State University Alumni (IMSUAA) Chief Enyioha Chris Anyanwu was among the newly recipients of honour by the National Purgatorian Society of Nigeria.
Enyioha, a current board member of the IMSUAA,and an ardent Catholic who has contributed immensely towards the growth and development of the Catholic Church received the award of National Patron of Purgatorian Society of Nigeria in a ceremony where former Governor Mr. Peter Obi and Enugu State Governor Dr. Peter Mbah were both honoured as grand patron of the purgatorian society.
The appointment of Enyioha Chris Anyanwu and others took place on Saturday 23rd, 2024 during a Golden Jubilee Mass of the Purgatorian Society concelebrated by His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. Chukwuma Callistus Valentine Onaga, Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese with 22 other Priests at the Purgatorian Society Secretariat, inside Ghost Cathedral Ogui, Enugu.
Presenting the awards and the appointment letters during the event, the recipients were charged not to relent in their support towards the role the Purgatorian Society plays in the Church and keep up to the tenets and doctrines of the Church in their lives.
They were also reminded to see this appointment as a challenge that will further make them keep up with their good works in the church and not relent after receiving their appointment.
The event which was under the distinguished Chairmanship of former INEC Boss, Professor Maurice Iwu, also saw Prof. Uche Martins and 4 others also receive different honours during the event.
The Purgatorian Society having reached a milestone of 50 years in Nigeria is an organization that assists to provide organized bodies through which Masses, sacrifices, suffrages, prayers are said regularly and consistently offered for the release and relief of souls in purgatory. (Info News)

In a speech presented to the guests during the celebration, the national president of the Purgatorian Society in Nigeria, Sir Purg. Ambrose Obioha, said the occasion of the golden jubilee celebration was an opportunity for the members of the society to forge a brighter future, and remaining consistent in praying for the dead.
