ISOPADEC MD, Chief Austin Onyedebelu, Announces Construction Of 8 New Primary Health Centers In Oil Producing Areas
The Managing Director of the Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC), Chief Austin Onyedebelu, has announced the commencement of construction of eight new Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in oil-producing communities of the State. He praised Governor Hope Uzodimma for his proactive leadership and commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery in the region.
The new PHCs are being established in the following locations:
Oguta LGA — Ejemekwuru/Akabor, Egwe/Egbuoma
Ohaji-Egbema LGA — Ohuba, Egbema F
Oru East LGA — Amiri 2, Amagu, Akatta 1, Awo-Omamma 1
Chief Onyedebelu said the initiative reflects Governor Uzodimma’s determination to bridge the healthcare gap in rural oil-bearing communities. He explained that each centre will be equipped to provide essential primary health services, including maternal and child care, immunisation, disease control, and basic emergency care.
The ISOPADEC MD also noted that the projects would not only enhance healthcare access but also stimulate local development by creating construction jobs and permanent employment for medical personnel once the facilities become operational.
He commended Governor Uzodimma for prioritising the welfare of oil-producing communities, stressing that the new PHCs are part of the Governor’s broader vision to expand access to quality healthcare across Imo State.
Local stakeholders have welcomed the development, describing it as a timely intervention that will reduce the burden on residents who currently travel long distances to access basic medical services.
Construction has already commenced, with ISOPADEC assuring that the projects will be delivered in line with the Governor’s development agenda.
