The Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Ph.D, has expressed deep sorrow over the sudden passing of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo Ph.D. In a statement released on Sunday, the Minister described the loss as a devastating blow to Bayelsa State, the Niger Delta, and Nigeria at large.

“His Excellency, Senator Ewhrudjakpo was a man who served with dedication. From his time as Commissioner to his service as Senator and ultimately Deputy Governor, he consistently demonstrated loyalty, integrity, and an unshakable commitment to the development of our dear State.”

He noted that the late Deputy Governor’s contributions to governance and public service were profound and will remain indelible in the history of Bayelsa State. “His passing is not just a personal loss to his family, but a collective tragedy for our State and nation,” the Minister added.

A release by Nneamaka Okafor, Media and Communication aide to the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), says Senator Lokpobiri extended his condolences to the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, the widow, Barr. (Mrs.) Beatrice Ewhrudjakpo, their children, the entire Ewhrudjakpo family, the Ofoni community, and the good people of Bayelsa State.

He prayed for God’s divine comfort upon the bereaved family and all those affected by the tragic loss, asking the Almighty to grant the departed eternal rest. “May God comfort the family and grant his soul eternal rest,” he said.
