
Artisans, Women, Youths To Receive Special Valentine’s Gift From Hon. Nkechi Ugwu
The Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Nkechinyere Ugwu has unveiled plans to empower hundreds of artisans, women and youths with life-changing and skill boosting items, during the upcoming Valentine’s day celebration on Saturday 14th February.
The Ogwume Ideato South born renowned women mobiliser, social activist and self-effacing philanthropist announced plans for the multimillion Naira empowerment program through messages she sent to the beneficiaries and some invited guests.
The Empowerment scheme which is currently on its 7th edition has been organised annually in the last seven years as her own way of giving back to the society, especially, in her immediate constituency of Ideato North and South.
Explaining her decision to narrow the Empowerment scheme to Ideato nation, she said that it has always been her vision to support her people in whatever way she can, and that her position as the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare helps her to extend such support to the larger Imo people through the auspices of the Imo State First Lady, Her Excellency Barrister Dr Chioma Uzodimma.
“The idea to give back to my people of Ideato nation has always been a burning passion for me, and I am grateful to His Excellency and his wife, the First Lady, for their unparalleled support that has ensured that I sustain this empowerment initiative to my people in the last seven years. I will continue to do more with the help of God and the support of my principal and his wife, the First Lady.”
