Security Investment Key to Economic Prosperity — Orji Uzor Kalu

Former Abia State Governor and Senator representing Abia North, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has emphasized the need for massive investment in security as a pathway to achieving sustainable economic growth and improving the welfare of Nigerians.

Kalu stated this during a visit to Sokoto State, where he commissioned 10 road projects constructed by the administration of Governor Ahmed Aliyu in the Arkilla New Layout area.

Speaking at the event, the former governor said insecurity remains one of the major obstacles preventing Nigeria from attaining a stronger and more inclusive economy.

According to him, meaningful economic progress can only be achieved when lives and properties are adequately protected across the country.

“What this country needs is economic expansion so that there can be money, prosperity and goodness for Nigerians,” Kalu said.

The senator praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for efforts aimed at repositioning the nation’s economy, noting that macroeconomic indicators suggest improvement despite current challenges.

However, he observed that ordinary Nigerians are yet to fully feel the impact of the economic reforms.

“Things might look difficult today. The macroeconomy is doing well, but the microeconomy is not doing well,” he stated, adding that he had personally shared his concerns with the President.

Kalu maintained that insecurity in several parts of the country continues to affect business activities, investments, and the overall standard of living of citizens.

He expressed optimism that with stronger investment in security infrastructure and national unity, the country would experience broader economic benefits.

“Nigeria is one, and I will continue to pray and plead for the unity of this country until I die,” he added.

The former governor also commended Governor Ahmed Aliyu for embarking on infrastructural development in Sokoto State, describing the commissioned road projects as a positive step toward growth and development.
