
Federal Polytechnic Nekede Academic Board Elects Dr. Juliana Njoku as Deputy Rector (Administration) Designate

The Academic Board of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, has elected Dr. Juliana Chinwendu Njoku as Deputy Rector (Administration) Designate, following her nomination by the Rector, Dr. Mrs. Basilia Nkemdilim Igbokwe.
The decision was reached during the Board’s statutory meeting held on Friday, 27th June, 2026, while the election is subject to the ratification of the institution’s 15th Governing Council, in line with the Federal Polytechnics (Amendment) Act, 2019 provisions.
Announcing the development, the Rector stated that the nomination reflects the institution’s unwavering commitment to merit, competence, integrity and dedicated service.
According to the Rector, Dr. Njoku has over the years distinguished herself as a committed academic, accomplished administrator and dependable institutional leader whose contributions have positively impacted the growth and stability of the Polytechnic.
The Rector noted that the nominee’s impressive academic qualifications, administrative experience, professional accomplishments and unwavering commitment to excellence made her eminently qualified for the position.
She further emphasized that the election is another demonstration of the administration’s policy of inclusive leadership, equal opportunity and gender balance, where appointments are driven by competence, proven capacity and commitment to institutional advancement.
Dr. Juliana Njoku, a renowned Clinical Psychologist and Chief Lecturer, has served the Polytechnic in several strategic capacities, her current roles as Director of Evening Programme, former Director of SERVICOM, former Director of the Centre for Gender Studies, elected member of the Academic Board and member of several important institutional committees. Throughout these assignments, she has demonstrated exceptional administrative ability, professionalism and dedication to service.
She also possesses an outstanding academic profile, with a PhD in Clinical Psychology, numerous scholarly publications, active participation in national and international conferences, and membership of several professional associations, reflecting her commitment to academic excellence and continuous professional development.
The announcement has been greeted with widespread excitement across the Polytechnic community.
A senior academic, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the nomination as “a well-deserved recognition of years of dedication, discipline and exceptional administrative service.”
Another member of staff remarked that Dr. Njoku’s calm disposition, interpersonal skills, integrity and institutional experience make her well suited to support the Rector in advancing the Polytechnic’s developmental agenda.
Similarly, student leaders and members of staff expressed optimism that, upon ratification by the Governing Council, the Deputy Rector (Administration) Designate would further strengthen administrative efficiency, staff relations, students’ welfare and quality service delivery.
Observers have also described the development as another milestone in the Rector’s deliberate efforts to promote excellence through inclusive governance, strategic succession planning and the empowerment of competent professionals, irrespective of gender.
