… Launches “Imo Air”. Acquires Air crafts.
In a bid to diversify the economy, Imo State Government is taking the bull by the horn by investing in the aviation industry.
Imo state Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has floated “Imo Air”, sequel to the desire to exploit the gains in the aviation industry to boost economy of the state, especially at this time of economic recession. The first Imo Air craft touched down at Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport on 24th of January, 2017 at about midday.
Speaking at the occasion, the Governor made it clear that he is all about the future of Imo state, and that posterity will be the judge. The Airline is being managed Dana Air, because it will be more profitable to leave it in hands of private investors so that it can effectively run.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ugonna Ozurigbo congratulated Imo people on this feat. According to him “Imo state floating an Airline at this time in the life of the State, and with the prevalent economic situation in the country is an evidence of a well thought out road map to economic recovery and dominance. I want to Congratulate Imo people for this feat, and pray to God to continue to guide and direct the executive led by His Excellency Rochas Okorocha in his determination to set Imo ahead of other states”.
Present at the Occasion were members of the state executive council, led by the secretary to the state Government, Sir George Eche, the Chief of staff, Imo state Government House, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, the legislature led by the speaker of Imo state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Acho Ihim and the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Ugonna Ozurigbo (Enyioha), captains of industries and the organized private sector.
