Governor Hope Uzodimma speaks on the Ongoing Strike By Independent Petroleum Marketers in Imo State
In the last two days, the Independent Petroleum Marketers embarked on an industrial action thereby, cutting off supply and sales of Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS) and associated products across the State. This was as a result of a court judgment awarding fines to the operator of a gas station.
The judgment arose from a case, wherein Imo State Government was listed as the fourth respondent, filed by the owner of the gas station as a result of construction damage by a contractor handling a road project as engaged by the previous administration. While this has created untold hardship on our people and businesses, I encourage the Independent Petroleum Marketers to exercise patience, return normalcy to their business and allow the exhaustion of the litigation period, as instituted by the plaintiff, and be rest assured that the State Government would adhere to the rule of law at all times.
