Having fulfilled his resolve to see through the election of Gov. Hope Uzodimma, before proceeding for his inauguration, for the 3rd time, as member representing Okigwe South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor has received his Certificate of Return, from the waiting hands of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and is set to storm the hallowed chambers of the National Assembly for his swearing- in.
The handing over ceremony was performed on behalf of the Commission by Mr Kenneth Okeagwu, a National Commissioner in INEC.
Recall that the Appellate Court, sitting in Lagos, had, on 4th November 2023 affirmed the verdict of the election petitions tribunal which has earlier, on 11th September 2023 declared Hon. Chike Okafor the rightful winner of the 2023 elections for the Ehime Mbano, Ihitte-Uboma and Obowo Federal Constituency seat, in the House of Representatives.
This collection of Certificate of Return effective put paid the the rumour mill, already brewing in certain quarters about the victory of Hon. Okafor in all the courts of the land.
