Just In: Abia North Youths Endorse Orji Kalu for Second Term, Urge Philip Nto to Withdraw
Some youths from Abia North Senatorial District have declared their support for the Senator representing the district, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, ahead of the 2027 senatorial election, urging another APC aspirant, Mr Philip Nto, to withdraw from the race.
The endorsement was made in a video statement by a youth leader Kalu Mba Kalu, on Sunday, who said the decision followed what he described as Senator Kalu’s contributions to infrastructure development and party growth in Abia North.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Kalu said the youths had resolved to support the former Abia State governor to return to the Senate for another term.
“My name is Kalu Mba Kalu. I am here on behalf of the youths of Abia North, and the youths of Abia North have decided to endorse Senator Orji Uzor Kalu to go again.
“After due consideration, we have seen what he has done in Abia North and in the party. He has done a lot.”
He stated that the group was calling on Mr Philip Nto, who is also seeking the APC senatorial ticket for Abia North, to step down in support of Senator Kalu.
“So, on behalf of the youths of Abia North, we call on Mr Philip Nto, who is also running for Senate under the APC, to withdraw from the race and support Senator Kalu,” he said.
Kalu further claimed that the youths were giving Nto a seven-hour ultimatum to withdraw his ambition and support the incumbent senator.
“We give him seven hours to withdraw and congratulate Senator Orji Uzor Kalu because we must move Abia North forward,” he added.
The youth leader also cited infrastructural projects and road development as some of the reasons behind the endorsement.
“Senator Kalu has done a lot for us in terms of infrastructure, good roads and others, and we cannot afford to lose our senator again,” he said.
“So we call on Philip Nto to withdraw from the race and embrace Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.”
