Imo APC Dismantles The Last Bastion Of Opposition, As Former Deputy Speaker, Ugonna Ozurigbo, Rejoins Party

…As Party Targets 100% Electoral Victory In Coming Elections

The Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, has welcomed the former Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ugonna Ozurigbo, back to the Party.

Represented by the Chief of Staff to the Imo State Government, Sir Nnamdi Anyaehie, the governor emphasized that the fall of what could have been considered the last bastion of any credible opposition in the State is an attestation to the transformative programs and the positive impacts of APC’s administration in the State. He welcomed Ugonna, who was also a member of the Federal House of Representatives, back to the Party, assuring him that the Party shall accord him all the rights and privileges available to every Party member.

The State Chairman of the Party, Chief Austin Onyedebelu, described the defection of Rt. Hon Ugonna Ozurigbo as a homecoming and a tremendous addition to the APC family, declaring it the final collapse of opposition dreams in the State.

“I am very happy to welcome Rt. Hon. Ugonna Ozurigbo, back to the progressive fold. His entrance into our Party strengthens my faith that the coming election shall be a clean sweep for our Party, not just in Nwangele, Nkwere, Isu, Njaba federal Constituency, but across the State.”

He assured Party faithful in the constituency to work together as a family, in order to guarantee the Party’s continued strength and victory. He credited the governor and leader of our Party in the State, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, with attracting quality members to the Party through his visionary leadership and good governance.

The current Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly who is also the member representing Nwangele State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Amarachi Chyna Iwuanyanwu, expressed heartfelt joy at the entrance of his predecessor in the Imo State House of Assembly and expressed relief at the fact that the Constituency and the larger federal constituency are now together and united.

Speaking earlier, the Zonal Chairman of the Party for Orlu zone, Chief Frank Onyejiaka advised that; “all interests must align together to promote the Party’s interests in line with the directive of the governor.”

Receiving the broom, the symbol of our great Party, on behalf of the leaders of various political Parties including, the Action Alliance, whose State Chairman, Chief Anthony Uchendu, the State Chairman of the Party in Imo State and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by Chief Robert Amadi, a former leader of ADC, who led key members of the opposition coalition to take up the broom of progress, by joining the APC. The defection also witnessed the complete coalescing and fusion of about 21 political structures affiliated to the OZB political family into the APC.

Some prominent leaders of the Party in the State including former Speakers of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Acho Ihim and Rt. Hon. Amaechi Nwoha, the State Secretary of the Party, Hon. Onyekachi Ibezim, member of the Imo State House of Assembly representing Nkwere State Constituency, Hon. Chisom Ted Ojukwu, former Deputy Chairman of the PDP in Imo State, Chief Martins Ejiogu, former State Secretary of the PDP in Imo State, Nze Ray Emeana, who is currently the Special Adviser to the Governor on Ahajioku Lecture. Commissioners for Homeland Security and Digital Economy in Imo, Hon. Modestus Osakwe and Hon. Chimezie Amadi, executive chairman of Nwangele LGA, Chief Paul Duru, former Majority Leader of the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Lugard Osuji, Special Adviser to the Governor on Electronic and Creative Media, Hon. Collins Opuruozo, among other leaders and Party stakeholders from across the State were on hand to witness the event.

All members of the State Working Committee of the Party were also present at the massive rally.
