OZB Collapses Opposition In Nkwere/Isu/Nwangele/Njaba Federal Constituency As AA, APP, Others Join APC

A major political shift has occurred in Imo State as former Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ugonna Ozurigbo (OZB), led a sweeping realignment that has effectively dismantled opposition structures across the Nkwerre/Isu/Nwangele/Njaba (NINN) Federal Constituency.

In a well-attended political gathering, key leaders and members of opposition parties, including the Action Alliance (AA), Action Peoples Party (APP), and other political blocs, formally collapsed their structures into the All Progressives Congress (APC), in solidarity with Ozurigbo’s return to the ruling party.

The development marks one of the most significant political consolidations in recent times within the constituency, as over 20 political structures affiliated with the OZB political family were also merged into the APC, alongside thousands of supporters.

Representing the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, the Chief of Staff, Sir Nnamdi Anyaehie, described the development as a clear indication of the growing acceptance of the APC in the state. He welcomed Ozurigbo and his supporters, assuring them of full integration and equal opportunities within the party.

The Imo State Chairman of the APC, Chief Austin Onyedebelu, hailed the move as a “defining moment” for the party, noting that the return of Ozurigbo and the mass defection of opposition elements have significantly strengthened the APC’s grassroots presence across the NINN federal constituency.

Also speaking, the Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Amarachi Chyna Iwuanyanwu, expressed hope that the development would foster unity and coordinated political progress within the constituency while urging all stakeholders to align their interests with the broader vision of the party, emphasizing the need for unity and discipline.

In his remarks, Ozurigbo thanked his supporters and political allies for their steadfast loyalty, noting that the decision to return to the APC was driven by the collective interest of the people and the need to reposition the constituency for greater opportunities. He pledged to work collaboratively with party leadership to advance development and strengthen the party’s dominance across the state.

The event attracted several high-profile political figures, including former Speakers of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Acho Ihim and Rt. Hon. Amaechi Nwoha, members of the State Executive Council, party executives, and stakeholders from across Imo State.

With this development, political observers believe the APC has effectively tightened its grip on the NINN federal constituency, as the influence of OZB and the mass defection of opposition structures continue to reshape the political landscape ahead of future elections.
