Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State witnessed a moment of political significance and renewed grassroots engagement as Barrister Ekeh Uzoma formally declared his aspiration to represent the Owerri North State Constituency at the Imo State House of Assembly.
The declaration, which took place at the OAU Ward, comprising Obube, Agbala, and Ulakwo..drew key stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), including party executives, youth leaders, and ward coordinators, all of whom described the development as timely and energizing for the party’s structure at the grassroots.

In his remarks, the APC LGA Chairman commended Barr. Ekeh Uzoma for what he described as “a bold and necessary step,” emphasizing that youth participation remains the cornerstone of progressive politics. He noted that the courage displayed by the aspirant is reflective of the kind of leadership required to deepen democratic values and consolidate the party’s influence in the constituency.
“This is the kind of courage we need for the work ahead,” the Chairman stated. “We welcome this aspiration and encourage the party faithful to support not just Barr. Ekeh, but all credible aspirants who come forward with ideas that can move Owerri North forward.”
The Ward Chairman, in his own contribution, expressed satisfaction with the development, describing Barr. Ekeh as a known figure within the party structure. He reassured the aspirant of the ward’s openness and institutional support.
“We are happy with this step. The party is with you, and we encourage you to remain steadfast as you engage with the people,” he said.
The Youth Leader, speaking with visible enthusiasm, pledged unwavering support on behalf of the youth constituency, noting that the movement would be actively promoted across communities.
“You have our unalloyed support. We will evangelize this movement and ensure that your message reaches every corner of Owerri North,” he declared.
In what many observers described as the high point of the meeting, Barr. Ekeh Uzoma took the floor to formally present his vision, encapsulated in what he termed “The Good Way Project 2027.” The initiative, according to him, is anchored on purposeful representation, intentional service, and the continuing development of humanity.
A long-standing member of the APC and a familiar face in Imo’s political and administrative landscape, Barr. Ekeh highlighted his years of service and engagement within the party and government structures, asserting that his aspiration is a continuation of a journey defined by loyalty, advocacy, and measurable political contributions.
“This is not just an ambition; it is a responsibility,” he noted. “The Good Way Project is about building a system where the people’s needs are translated into laws, where representation is deliberate, and where development is continuous and inclusive.”
Since the declaration, reactions across Owerri North LGA have been largely positive, with several party leaders and stakeholders commending the clarity of vision and the structured approach presented. However, as expected in a vibrant democratic setting, some critics have raised questions regarding political depth and long-term strategy.
Nonetheless, there is a growing consensus that Barr. Ekeh’s devotion, articulation, and grassroots engagement have positioned him as a compelling voice in the unfolding political discourse. For many, his emergence signals not just another candidacy, but a movement steadily gaining traction within the APC fold.
As the 2027 electoral cycle gradually takes shape, all eyes will remain on Owerri-North a constituency that appears poised for a contest of ideas, vision and credible representation.
