Team Nigeria contingent at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics are on a war part, over Samsung mobile phones given to all athletes accredited for the event.
Over 18,000 athletes were accredited for this event and Samsung made available one mobile phone for everyone of them, upon presentation of the accreditation tag.
Trouble started when an official of Team Nigeria went with all the tags for Nigerian athletes and collected all the phones at once and upon the sad incident of disqualification of 10 athletes, by the Olympics Committee, the official decided to withhold the phones due to the affected athletes. His argument is that they were disqualified and ineligible to get the phones.
But the affected athletes have revolted, insisting that the official has already picked up the phones in their names and so must give them the phones.
The last is yet to be heard of this embarrassing scene.
