Governor Uzodimma Advocates For Expanded Military Budget

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has called for a boost in budgetary allocation to not only expand Army Barracks but also support the welfare of military personnel, their families, and dependents.

Speaking during a visit by the House of Representatives Committee on Army to the Government House, Owerri, on Monday, May 6, 2024, Governor Uzodimma stressed the importance of adequate funding to bolster the defense capabilities of the state. He appealed to the National Assembly to prioritize support for the Army, emphasizing that sufficient funding is crucial for effective defense and the maintenance of democracy.

Highlighting recent security challenges faced by the Army in Imo State and the South East, including banditry, kidnapping, and oil theft, Governor Uzodimma underscored the necessity of military assistance to tackle these threats.

In response, Committee Chairman Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Mamudu expressed gratitude for the opportunity to assess military formations in the state and assured the Governor of their commitment to scrutinizing the Army’s budget to ensure alignment with national priorities.”
