Obasanjo hails landmark project
Imo State Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, has announced that the Imo Central Market will be a transformative project, elevating the state to global prominence.
At the groundbreaking ceremony of the Owerri Central Market Complex in New Owerri on June 21, 2024, Governor Uzodimma highlighted the market’s potential to boost the state’s economy and attract international attention.
He revealed that the market project, originally designed in 1976, is a direct foreign investment aimed at serving both international and local markets in Imo State and her environs.
Governor Uzodimma expressed gratitude to former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo for his unwavering support for the people of Imo through successive administrations.
Former President Obasanjo praised Governor Uzodimma for his proactive efforts in realizing this wealth-creating most important Central Market project in Nigeria, noting that such initiatives require substantial planning, trust, and confidence.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Governor Her Excellency Lady Mrs. Chinyere Ekomaru Ph.D, Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe, Majority Leader of the Imo House of Assembly Hon. Kanayo Onyemaechi, Secretary to the Government of Imo State Hon. Chief Cosmos Iwu, Chief of Staff Barr. Nnamdi Anyaehie, Commissioner for Trade, Commerce and Investment Barr. Rex Anunobi, Chief Promoter Nze Fidelis Chukwu, and numerous other dignitaries.
