Chike Okafor And His Investment in the Future of Okigwe South

For almost two decades, a period stretching to his days as a private citizen and a Banker, Deacon Chike Okafor, PhD, has committed himself to investing in the future of society.

The earliest beginnings, from his immediate Obowo Local Government Area, and upon getting into politics, he extended this commitment to the Ihitte Uboma and Ehime Mbano Local Government Areas and even beyond.

Hon. Chike Okafor has been paying for WAEC Registration fees for generations of students in his Federal constituency all these years, and also JAMB enrollment, which is backed by full University scholarship for the best performing students.

This year, he has added Agro-Training for the Students, creating in them an entrepreneurial spirit, ahead of Senior School Certificate Exams.

Hon. Chike Okafor recognises that some of these students have in them the requisite drive to be independent and skill is the way to go. To this end, he has partnered with core professionals from a Federal College of Education, Umunze, to catch them young, and groom them in Agro-preneur, in hope that some of them will take it up from here and make a living from the skills acquired.

Previously, those who view his giant strides with cynicism claim he does things with political undertones, and today, it is amazing to see same people hail this genius innovative training, because they recognise that not being on the ballot, in the next general elections has not stopped Hon. Chike Okafor from doing exactly what he does, previously.

This time around he even took a step further to add massive skill acquisition to the same students for whom he pays WAEC Registration every year.

The training, which ran from Wednesday 16th September through Friday 18th September 2026, took place simultaneously in Okenalogho Secondary Technical School, Obowo, Mercy Girls High School, Ehime Mbano, and Amainyi High School, Ihitte Uboma, as centres, with participants drawn from various schools and foundations across the three LGAs, with the promise of a follow up and a sequel, in due course.

The students also got mouth watering packages and starter packs, to motivate them to put their newly acquired skills to good use, for the benefit of the larger society and the glory of God.

Hon. Chike Okafor has left no one in doubt that his desire to leave the constituency better than he met goes beyond parochial sentiments and political inclinations, rather it is anchored on the passion for the service of God and humanity.
