Umucheke Onuimo Dastardly killings: Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor Mourns, Condole Okigwe North and Imo People.

The member representing the good people of Okigwe South Federal Constituency, in the House of Representatives, Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor, Ph.D, has condemned in strongest terms, the terrifying assassination of the President General of Umucheke Autonomous Community, in Onuimo LGA, of Imo State, Mr Hygenus Ohazuruike, and seven other village heads, of the community, by yet-to-be identified persons.

Deacon Okafor described the incident as wicked, callous, and unwarranted, especially happening at a time the State Government had recorded impressive achievements to making our communities a better and safer place to live in.

According to him, “there cannot be any justifiable reason for anyone to unlawfully take the lives of other people, under any guise. I condemn this unfortunate incident, and I urge the security agencies to fish out the perpetrators as soon as possible.”

Hon Okafor extends his deepest condolences to the people of Okigwe North Federal Constituency, and the Imo State Government, on the sad occurrence of 3rd August 2024, in Umucheke, Onuimo Local Government Area.

Hon. Okafor who addressed newsmen moments after he dismissed from Sunday church service, decried the steady descent into kindred bloodletting, and regrets that it is a total departure from the niche our progenitors left.

Hon. Okafor who is the chairman Committee on Nutrition and Food Security, in the Federal House of Reps, reiterated that while his committee is determined to arrest the hunger situation in the country by ensuring proper Nutrition and Food Security for all Nigerians, the incident of Umucheke, Onuimo, which led to the loss of lives of a number of community leaders, is sadly not connected with any protest, since Southeasterners carefully refrained from the protest.

He called on citizens to help call fellow citizens to order, saying that no life lost truly advances any genuine cause, rather leaves a debt waiting to be repaid.

He further stated that security agents need the support of the people to succeed, even as he noted the massive encouragement and boost the agencies, in the State, have received from the Governor, Distinguished Sen. Hope Uzodimma.

Hon. Chike Okafor while condoling with the people Onuimo LGA, Okigwe North, and Imo State, in general, extends warm regards from his constituents from the other half of Imo North, the good people of Ehime- Mbano, Ihitte-Uboma, Obowo Federal Constituency.
