Charles Nwosu Elected 5th President of IMSU Alumni Association
Mr. Charles Nwosu popularly known as Porpor has been elected as the 5th national president of the Imo State University Alumni Association (IMSUAA) in the just concluded general elections, of 23rd November 2024.
The Abuja-based and former Abuja chapter chairman was declared winner of the election in a healthy contested election where he defeated Dr. Chima Madu to become President-elect.
According to the result announced on the official platform of the IMSUAA on Sunday from Abuja, Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Victor Iwuala KSJI, declared Charles Nwosu President-elect after he polled 75 votes to defeat Chima Madu who polled 16 votes.
Charles Nwosu who stepped down four years ago when he wanted to contest against Incumbent President, Barr. Okey Ozumba got massive support online and offline to become President-elect. Nwosu garnered 67 votes online and 8 votes offline to be declared president, while Dr. Madu got 16 votes online and 0 votes offline.
In the position of the General Secretary, former Imo State Chapter Chairman Dr. Majesty Duru polled 57 votes as against incumbent Secretary Mr. Ik Ogbonna who had 36 votes, while Amanze Daphine polled 59 votes as against Nwosu Nze Chimaraoke who had 36 votes.
For the position of the Vice President 1, Dr. Prince Ogbogu Asogwa (Ijele Enugu) emerged as an unopposed candidate and polled 67 votes, while Onyekachi Oha who also contested for the position of the Deputy President as an unopposed candidate polled 42 votes.
Other aspirants who emerged as unopposed candidates are Barr. Uchenna Iwuchukwu-Deputy General Secretary, Amah Dennis-Deputy Organising Secretary, Dr. Oby Ozigbo Uba- Welfare Secretary and Sinikiem Ayoko-Publicity Secretary.
In the finance department, Lagos-based Oguike Saran Ify emerged unopposed as Treasurer and will be working hand in hand with Enugu-based Ogechi Assumpta Obinna Ibeh who also emerged as Financial Secretary while Obinna Leslie Mbakwe will be deputizing the Financial Secretary-elect.
To ensure discipline and orderliness during the Alumni’s event in the next term, Chiamaka Juliet Nwaiwu emerged as Provost 1 in an unopposed election while Ogu Matthew who will assist in that department emerged as Provost 2.
While congratulatory messages have been going on to the President-elect, Mr. Charles Nwosu and all the newly elected executive officers, the Electoral Committee under the chairmanship of Victor Iwuala has also received praises for conducting a credible election.
The swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected executive is most likely to take place in Owerri next month on a date yet to be fixed by the National Executive Council. (Info News)
