Hon Kingsley Uju Hosts IMSU Alumni in Abuja as Charles Nwosu emerges as IMSUAA National President
Following the successful National Executive Council (NEC) elections, of the Imo State University Alumni Association (IMSUAA), which produced Mr. Charles Nwosu as President -Elect, the Association has commenced a transition period which will see the new NEC assume office, in the last days of December 2024.
After the election, transparently conducted by the Sir Victor Iwualla (KSJI) led electoral committee, in Abuja, the atmosphere was that of jubilation and ecstacy and this mood graced the arrival of the immediate past member representing Ohaji/Egbema, Oguta, Oru-West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Uju Kingsley Chima alongside his team, including Mr. Gerald Ikechukwu Nnadi also known as (Number one).
Speaking on the occasion, the erstwhile legislator said he is always delighted to show his support to the Alumni anytime the opportunity comes. Though he did not school at the Imo State University, Owerri (IMSU), but as an indigene of the state, IMSU is dear to all sons and daughters of Imo State because any child that graduates from IMSU is a big plus to the family, in particular and the State to the state at large.
He said he is very delighted with the outcome of the election as it was declared free, fair and credible, paving way for the best candidate in the person of Mr. Charles Nwosu also known as (Porpor) to emerged with a very strong EXCO that is gender balanced. He pledged to support this new leadership like he did for outgoing team led by Barr. Okey Ozumba (Nzeakonobi). He encouraged the new EXCO to strive to build on existing legacies and to surpass Ozumba’s record as he has left a big shoe for the incoming administration, especially as he attracted a project for the school through his humble self, Hon. Uju Kingsley.
Responding, the President elect, Mr. Charles Nwosu thanked Hon. Uju Kingsley Chima for the honour of his presence, on short notice and as well appreciated his assurance of an open door, for the Alumni, whenever his presence and support is needed. He further stated that his leadership will thread the roadmap already set, while caving a niche for itself, to better the welfare of the Alumni Association, her members and to give back to the Alma mater, which is the core reason for assembling the best of the bests, to lead the rest.
Also speaking, alongside other elected officials, the National Treasurer-Elect, Mrs Sarah Ify Oguike expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the election as well the warm hand of partnership extended by Hon. Uju Kingsley, urging him to expedite action on the complex he offered to build at the Imo State University, Owerri, in appreciation for the honour done to him, during the IMSU Alumni convention, in Umuahia, in August 2024.
The Charles Nwosu administration is billed for inauguration, later in the year, and it is obvious that the President -Elect has already started a Nation wide consultation to ensure a smooth take off and a result oriented tenure, as he acknowledges the fact that the expectations of the Alumni members, are high, and cannot afford to let them down.
Special thanks to Mr. Innocent Ekeopara (solid) for making the evening eventful, with his resourcefulness.
